Pelvic Floor and Powerlifting Workshop
This workshop is designed to help you feel stronger, more connected to your breath and deep core, and more confident in your lifts. Dr. Bre Marie of Tethered Pelvic Health and I will be co-leading to give you both the pelvic floor foundation and the powerlifting strategy needed to get the most out of your training.
Here are the details:
When: January 25th
Time: 10am–12pm
Where: Empower PT & Performance, Wakefield
What you will be doing:
Education on breathing anatomy and technique, and how it impacts your lifts
Hands-on practice and coaching feedback with breathing drills, core exercises, and proper deadlift and squat form
Discussion of common difficulties and roadblocks with these lifts and the pelvic floor
Barbell deadlift and squat drills to enhance overall form and performance
What you will learn:
How to avoid injury in powerlifting and prevent pelvic floor issues or worsening symptoms
Tips for building stronger, more efficient deadlifts and squats
Why leaking during deadlifts or squats can happen and steps to minimize symptoms
How to use your breath and core effectively for longevity in lifting
A deeper understanding of your core and how to improve core engagement during lifts
Take-home drills, exercises, and techniques to integrate into your training
Who this is for:
Anyone looking to learn more about the squat and deadlift
Lifters dealing with pelvic floor issues (leakage, increased peeing during/after lifting, painful sex, constipation, pelvic pain, hemorrhoids, postpartum or post-surgical concerns)
Anyone wanting to improve their health while continuing to lift heavy
Lifters struggling to increase weight due to pelvic floor symptoms
Anyone aiming to maximize their lifts safely
Not for:
Individuals who need internal pelvic floor work during the event
Individuals looking to push PRs at the expense of their health
